About Joaquin, TX - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

Joaquin is a Shelby County, Texas city located in the northeastern portion of the county. It is a small community with fewer than 850 residents, and it is found on the Southern Pacific Railroad tracks and along U.S. Highway 84. This community was originally founded in the mid-1880s to serve a station for the Houston, East, and West Texas Railway. The land used was donated by resident Benjamin Franklin Morris, and the site was named after his grandson Joaquin. The community served as a shipping point for lumber and cotton, and it was incorporated in 1940.

With fewer than 1000 residents living in Joaquin, there are no major attractions located within the city limits. However, some of the surrounding communities do have attractions and activities that may appeal to visitors or residents. Nearby Center, TX is home to historical sites like the Shelby County Museum, and The Lily Farm offers a variety of plants and flowers for nature enthusiasts. Carthage, which is located northwest of Joaquin, is home to the Texas Country Music Hall of Fame and the Tex Ritter Museum. The history of this region of East Texas can be studied at the old Panola County Jail Museum or the Panola County Heritage Museum.

East Texas, including Joaquin, has one of the hottest summers in the United States. Temperatures will reach 100 degrees Fahrenheit many days each summer, and heat indices with high humidity will make it feel even warmer. These dangerously hot climate conditions make it apparent that residents and visitors will require an indoor environment that is kept cool with the help of an efficient air conditioning system.

Winter weather in Joaquin is typically mild, but when cold fronts pass into the area, temperatures can plummet quite quickly. Some years, snow storms do occur, but rain and sleet are more likely. However, it is important for Joaquin residents to prepare for the unexpected regarding the weather by having access to a furnace or heat pump to keep warm when weather conditions change.
