About Shelbyville, TX - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

Shelbyville, Texas is an unincorporated community found in Shelby County. This community is situated about seven miles southeast from the neighboring community of Center, and it can be accessed via State Highway 87. Shelbyville was originally founded by settlers from Nashville, TN in the 1820s, and while it was originally given the name Nashville, its name would be changed to Shelbyville in 1837 as a way of honoring Kentucky Governor and American Revolution hero Isaac Shelby. Only about 250 residents call Shelbyville home.

As a small, unincorporated community, Shelbyville is not home to any major attractions. However, there are several interesting things to see and do located around the area. Zip Nac, an area zipline tour company, provides an adventure for adrenaline junkies in the area. Camping is available at Brookeland/Lake Sam Rayburn KOA and Bean’s VIP Campground. Other notable area attractions include the Mansfield State Historic Site and the Nacogdoches Sterne-Hoya Museum.

Shelbyville is part of a humid subtropical climate zone, which is typical for the East Texas region of the state. Winters are commonly mild with temperatures in the mid-50s, but several days do experience freezing or below freezing conditions. This can be especially problematic when sleet or ice storms move into the area, as driving conditions can quickly become hazardous. When residents are stuck indoors due to the weather, they will appreciate having a home furnace or heat pump.

Summers in Shelbyville are hot and humid. While many days are sunny with temperatures in the 90s, extremely hot weather that exceeds 100 degrees Fahrenheit do occur often throughout the season. Additionally, high humidity will move into the area from the Gulf, and this weather can also bring severe thunderstorms along. When harsh summer weather conditions move into the area, a properly-serviced air conditioner is a major asset for homeowners.
